About Your Therapist
I’m a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW) with a Master’s in Social Work from the University of Minnesota – Twin Cities. Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of working in a wide range of settings, including substance use treatment, specialized programs for individuals who have committed sexual offenses, and community-based care with a focus on Hispanic populations, military communities, and teens.
Transitioning into private practice has given me the opportunity to weave together the diverse interests and skills I’ve developed throughout my career. This setting also allows me to incorporate Christian counseling for those who are interested in exploring emotional, relational, and spiritual concerns within the context of their faith. Rather than narrowing my focus to one specialty, I find energy and inspiration in the variety of clients I serve. It keeps me engaged, helps prevent burnout, and fuels my commitment to lifelong learning in order to offer the best possible care.
I work fluently in both English and Spanish. With immersion education and over seven years of experience providing care primarily in Spanish-speaking settings, I’m attentive not just to language but also to the cultural nuances that exist within the diverse Hispanic community.
In addition to my formal education, I’ve pursued ongoing training and certifications to deepen my skills. I’m currently completing certification in Somatic Experiencing® (SE), a body-based approach to trauma resolution, and have also trained in Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) for couples. Other modalities I frequently draw from include Prolonged Exposure Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Motivational Interviewing—each one tailored to the unique goals and needs of the individuals and couples I support.
Outside of the therapy room, I enjoy spending time with family and friends, traveling, and being outdoors—whether hiking in the summer or skiing in the winter. I’m a creative at heart and still prefer paper scrapbooking over digital. And I’m always up for an adventure—I hope to hike in every U.S. National Park someday!
A few favorites that give a glimpse into who I am:
A book that’s shaped me: Boundaries by Dr. Henry Cloud and Dr. John Townsend. It challenged me personally and has become a foundational resource in my work. The book offers biblically grounded guidance on setting healthy boundaries in all areas of life but is accessible to someone who is not a believer.
A favorite way to recharge: Puzzles, fluffy books, travel, and meaningful connection with loved ones.
A skill I love using in therapy: The Feeling Wheel—a simple but powerful tool that helps expand emotional language. It supports clients in identifying needs and deepening their connection with themselves and others.
Comfort food: Cookie Dough ice cream from Cold Stone or Taco Bell (but not at the same time!).
Favorite place away from home: Anywhere I haven’t been yet. Adventure is my happy place.
